DESIGN DECISIONS
The existing heritage house has been largely retained with minor upgrades including replacing roof tiles & improving the current heritage features. Internally, one former bedroom will be reconfigured to accommodate two new bathrooms. This approach allowed key elements of the original fabric to remain intact while improving functionality.
The new extension is conceived as a clear architectural contrast. A contemporary addition that deliberately distinguishes itself from the heritage dwelling, while maintaining a seamless connection between old and new.
Material choices draw from a modern Australian palette with a subtle coastal influence, combining natural timber, warm stone, and restrained accents inspired by the surrounding landscape.
